That’s admittedly a bold statement to make, but just listen to the spatial dynamics and cavernous echoes on tracks like “Beep” and “Gymnasium” and you’ll be sold. Gys explores texture as a quality of sound, with grainy atmospherics shifting in and out of focus while terse 4/4 rhythms spiral outwards to the periphery of one’s range of hearing.
