WV Sorcerer Productions (FR/CN) and Ramble Records (AUS) are delighted to be releasing FluFlaFen’s “Sorcery Sauce”.

Beijing’s improvisational trio FluFlaFen’s “Sorcery Sauce” is a full-bodied, firebrand assault on the senses - an unrelenting, transcendental punk-jazz coup de maître.

All the compositions are completely improvised - at times brutal, immediate and uncompromising with layers of tasteful, transcendental ambience that wouldn't be out of place on Miles’ “On the Corner” or “In a Silent Way”. Each member knowing exactly when to push the boundaries and when to reign in the beast.

Born out of the pandemic, this culturally diverse experimental, jazz-rock trio comprised of Jukka Ahonen on guitar, Yoni Geller on drums, and Hadi Marvian fits alongside the likes of Last Exit, Zu, Flying Luttenbachers, Painkiller or Fushitsusha.

FluFlaFen was born out of the pandemic. When you become aware of the attitude that goes into creating their music it makes perfect sense that a world in lockdown was fertile soil for this project to lay its roots. In a time when musicians had no shows, no serious projects to work on and no idea as to how anything would ever go back to normal FluFlaFen found joy in embracing the idea that there is no normal. This music is an attempt at creating something with no concern for normalcy, or the future, or for satisfying an audience. The only desire is to sink deep into the energy that arises when we forget the world for a moment.

When you abandon the idea of normal you can truly abandon all of the typical structures you hear in music, so something new can come to light. Although these structures have been abandoned the fundamentals of music remain, but in a manner that's completely unhinged. There is no time and yet the groove is intense. There are no chord progressions, but the harmony is still rich and full. There are no themes yet beautiful melodies can emerge from the chaos. There are no sections to be repeated and somehow every performance still has its own strange continuity. When you really listen to FluFlaFen it feels as though your mind is immersed in a place that is never present in everyday life. A place where concerns don't exist, where there are no boundaries, where time stands still - a place of pure energy.
