Thrown on a canvas with great expectation
This picture it is heavenly but I am just a man
Will I ever finish this painting called The Promise Land

Will I ever chose the right road?
Will I ever walk into that place?
Where my dreams are real and I feel your joy
Exploding on my face

Will I ever find the river that flows from the heart of God?
It's a painter's dream but by faith I believe
I will one day walk into the promise land.

Left up to me I'll mess it up.
Left up to me I'll surely miss it
This idea of grace is easy for me to understand
Won't let a moment go by when I don't try to catch your eye
Hear my prayer, I'm in despair
Rescue this drowning man.

Will I ever chose the right road?
Will I ever walk into that place?
Where my dreams are real and I feel your joy

I'm still a part of the plan
The son of man in grafted me
Now I have a covenant too
for the Promise Land.
