Scottish, Manchester-based rapper Bastet marks his debut on Stereofox Records with the soulful, chill hip-hop single “River”
Produced by London-based BNMO, the song fuses a jazzy drum groove, lush keys from Oscar Wieczorek and warm guitar lines by Harvey O’Connell.
Channelling the introspective lyricism & the smooth rapping of artists like Loyle Carner & LAUSSE THE CAT, “River” is also in collaboration with London singer TAZ, whose velvet vocals add a soulful touch & depth to the chorus.
Thematically, “River” explores how, even at your lowest, the right person can pull you back from the edge. As TAZ puts it, “The river becomes a metaphor for love - a current that carries you forward.”
