Evening Ride by Rakuyou x GXNXSIS
Entering the chillhop scene in 2019, Rakuyou released her first EP “Night Moods” in 2021. The EP has reached nearly 300k streams so far, while her jazz-inspired sound, based on warm chords and carefully picked samples, gathers more and more attention from chillhop lovers.
GXNXSIS started producing five years ago as a hobby but in the past two years focused more seriously on his career. His first EP “boundless”, released in April this year, has already made nearly 5m streams. In addition, he has been featured on songs with lofi legends such as Oatmello and TyLuv.
Now Rakuyou and GXNXSIS decided to team up and their marvellous collab certainly proves that distance is no issue when two artists are on the same page (or rather: wave). What emerged thanks to Rakuyou’s vibey chords and was brought to life by GXNXSIS’ drums, quickly grew into a fully-fleshed out wonderful chill hop tune.
“It was nighttime and rained. I really love writing ideas at night – the calmness of the outside world helps me focus on what is happening inside my mind. So I started vibing and making chords with some smooth electric piano, then came up with this idea and the main structure of the song. I sent the idea to my good producer-buddy GXNXSIS who added some catchy drums for it and some days later, “Evening Ride” was made.” - Rakuyou
“When making “Evening Ride,” I thought back to all the fun moments I’ve had during long drives and jamming out to my favourite songs. I really wanted to create an atmosphere of a smooth relaxing ride but still keep the fun nature of cruising down the road with the windows down! When I was younger I spent a lot of my time taking long drives to see my wife. We would always have a blast talking, listening to music and enjoying the sunset.“ - GXNXSIS
Giving off chilled sunset vibes, “Evening Ride” is a vehicle to relaxation. Rakuyou and GXNXSIS stirred up a quite tempting groovy cocktail with refined jazzy vibes. Their recipe for excellence includes vibey synths and captivating bass, unfolding amidst dynamic percussion.
A perfect night-ride soundtrack, the track sets the tone for pure enjoyment and provides the listener with an occasion to fully unwind.
