What's the worse thing a loved ones ever done? Once the apple of thy eye becomes a cockroach crushing beneath they're heel. The way that one feels when one is stabbed in the back is a feeling we never forget. It is a dark memory hid away in the furthest corners of ones head. We tuck it away on a pillow in the deepest pits of the mind and hope that we never stumble upon it again. If only that ever really worked.
How does one forgive such a blasphemy? Is it even ever truly possible? What's done is done and cannot be undone. You cant put Pandora back in the box. Every time you see this persons face you'll be reminded of that foul act and be to a point, banishing yourself to that dark deep pit in your head, the one you said you'd never go to. I for one can't live that way.
A true betrayal is as evident as it is devastating. I have to wonder if I've ever caused such a misery. Nothing comes to mind, though I'm sure I have hurt people on accident. Is that any better? I would think a true betrayal would have to be done on purpose. Part of what makes a stab in the back as bad as it is, is the break of trust. The slashing of loyalty to ribbons breaking your heart for the world to see.
No, I do not think forgiveness would be appropriate.
