East Timor from Moondog Mask by Hobocombo
During an interview on late night radio, the band’s work on Moondog’s repertoire was boldly compared to Robert Wyatt’s “Old Rottenhat”. Inspired by the comparison, this song was recorded the very next day. “East Timor” is the missing link that completes the album: a heavy and realistic counterbalance to distant fantasy worlds. Francesca Baccolini’s ethereal voice leads a choral lament for an unfairly forgotten tragedy.
