Book II by Tidemancer

Still lost in thought, the Tidemancer hears the little bell hangin by the porch ringing: a letter is waiting for him.
A fisherman from a town he visited many years ago asks for his help, as people have reportedly being jumping from the cliffs into the depths of the sea. The Tidemancer is ready for a new mission.

After traveling on the King’s Highway, he reaches his destination, and decides to meet the town Mayor to gather some clues. The Mayor doesn’t seem concerned by the fisherman’s report, but the Tidemancer can sense something is amiss.

Trusting his instinct, honed by years of study and experience, he decides to investigate the cliffs. As he casts a revealing spell, a potent magic resists his powers, thus conjuring a storm. As the lightning and thunder cease, the Tidemancer can hear a faint song coming from beneath. The Sirens appear.

As the siren Matriarch approaches, the Tidemancer is left wondering if that’s the threat he set out to face. She reveals a disturbing truth, though: the Mayor has been killed by a Nix, a shape-shifting creature, which poses as him and uses its power to charm the townspeople to throw themselves off the cliffs to feed its newborns.

A fierce battle with the mighty enemy ensues in the final showdown: the Tidemancer conjures all his powers and finally manages to best the Nix, restoring the peace.

After receiving the thanks and homages of the villagers, the Tidemancer returns once again to his solitary home, riding off into the horizon, already preparing for the threats to come.
