This album was made during the quarantine, which was a new experience for us in terms of recording almost entirely remotely. While not recording in person with musicians was unfortunate, the process of making the album proved to be one that helped sustain us psychologically and mentally during the more difficult moments of the pandemic. We feel very fortunate to have worked with such great musicians like Henry Solomon (woodwinds) and Gregory Allison (strings) and this Thoma album has perhaps our best arrangement work to date. The title of the album means simply, “to live,” which is the title both of one of our favorite films and the track that we felt gave the album its theme, which is the importance of embracing life even when it seems very difficult.
