I used to sit before the morning and watch the shadows appear
I learned to love what I should fear
And when the roosters gave the warning, I learned the same thoughts were near
I waved goodbye without a tear
As everybody passed me by, I never stopped to wonder, why?
My favourite colour’s one you’ve never seen
My favourite song, they only play in my dreams.
My favourite line. I never say. I’m either alone or too afraid (or its out of place)
But it’s this one, that one and this one. They’re all the same
Somebody asked me to explain. How can you so plain? My favourite weather is the rain
Even if I let it bother me, well, I think it wouldn’t dare
Things only matter when you care
Life ain’t about the time and time sure ain’t about the money
So tell me why
Why would they come here and make such a scene
They scream and shout and they act so obscene
I’ve seen the pain that’s in their eyes
So, I just smile. I’d never cry
I say, hit me, go on and have fun. It’s all the same
Truth of the matter is, it’s all the same game
And you can never win if you let it make you insane
Sometimes, if I get a moment, I’ve got this favourite place where I can listen to the wind
And if I doze off while I’m in it, then I just leave the race. I call that moment my best friend
Everybody passes by, I’ll wave and never wonder why
