You Said by The Sparkle & Fade
"You Said" was started by our guitarist Jeff who brought it to our other guitarist, Tyler to fill out the song structure. This was the first full song that we wrote with our drummer, Mark, and that he recorded with us. The synergy of writing with this new configuration was refreshing and everyone had an idea to contribute. The song layers together rhythmic guitar, bass, and synth parts which peak at the chorus with vibrant vocal harmony. Jeff had named the song but it had no words, so Courtney ran with the theme and based the lyrics around someone in a relationship who can live and love with their whole heart but who cannot keep their word, despite their best efforts. Recording the song was a fun experience. As always we recorded in our home studio, and because of this we afforded the time to mess around a bit. We even did some shouting gang vocals in a long hallway (for that natural reverb!).
