I’ve got a friend on the other side
Who says it’ll be alright, in the end

As I sit alone and lose track of time
Those words soothe my mind and mend

All through this morning, I hear you
I see the pain in your eyes
I thought that I was gonna lose you
Lay me by your side

In this sterile land we have sacrificed
We can’t afford to fight or pretend

This world can seem so cruel at times
Takes you by surprise my friend

All through this evening I see you
A game of guessing if you’d survive
I hold your hands like I may lose you

When five a clock in the morning still feels like night
I’m walking these halls of light, I can’t go home
And I’m still trying to wrap my head around what happened tonight
Man it don’t feel right, to leave you alone

Pull the curtains up so you can see outside
Those hummingbirds keep flying by, your bed

When fits of anger sway your mind
You say it’ll be just fine, in the end
