Braindrops by The Fuzztones

1990. The Fuzztones were contracted to supply a second album to Beggar's Banquet (the first being 1989's "In Heat"). Despite growing internal conflicts within the band, they somehow managed to write several songs together, in anticipation of recording what later became "Braindrops." The recording, however, was not to be. At least not with the "In Heat" line-up. The conflicts became so great that, while on tour of Europe, Rudi actually announced onstage at London's Marquee Club, the break-up of the band - much to the surprise of the current members. Rudi had already assembled a new line-up which was waiting for him and Mad Mike to return from the tour. The new line-up actually only consisted of Mad Mike, Rudi and former Tommyknockers bassist Chris Harlock at this point, and this was the line-up that recorded "Braindrops," with Rudi doing all the guitar and keyboards with the exception of "Look For The Question Mark," and "Rise," which features Phil Arriagada, who joined just as the band was finishing the album, on lead guitar. Although Jake Cavalier is pictured on the album sleeve, he did not play on the album, as he, too, joined later.
Special guests on the album include Sean Bonniwell of the Music Machine, and Arthur Lee of Love contributing vocals on "All The King's Horses." Jacqui Lynn of X Offenders contributed backing vocals on "All The King's Horses," "Fear," and "Look For The Question Mark."
