Everyday the river gets closer

For 200 years I watched in silence
AS the coral crept up around me, and the ocean floor concealed me

They called me Leviathan
The accused me of devouring the Spanish Armada

I listened to the tales of grief and of absence
I heard the cries of the living and the dead

They blamed me for what they did not want to see
They ignored what they did not understand

As I traverse the growing waves
The lands wash away before my eyes
I am not a nightmare
I am something that you don't understand
