Remembering by The Broken Cradle

This is an album about loss and grief. My mother-in-law, Vicki, passed away two years ago. A few months ago, my best friend James passed away. They both left behind families and friends that love them.

When James died, it felt like looking in a mirror. He was my age with two young children and a pregnant wife. He was here, and then he was gone. And we are left behind to deal with the void that is left. It isn't pretty or romantic--it is grief and it is painful.

It took me a long time to write this and push it across the finish line. My mind was often on other things during this time period and writing music felt like a burden in many ways. But I always come back to it and it always helps me find a way to express how I feel where words and sentiments fails.

I miss you both terribly. I hope this small batch of songs, my attempt to grasp something more than what is temporal, brings some peace to those who are going through their own grief. I hope it helps you remember that we only have today.
