Walk EP by The Argent Grub
Lianne Hall was described by John Peel as "One of the great English voices", and I've been a fan since I first heard her voice on one of his annual Festive Fifty shows.
The simplicity of Lianne's approach to the tracks on her album, Abandon Ship, was a big influence on me when it came to writing Walk, so on a whim, and with very little expectation, I sent it to her to see if she wanted the song, and to see whether she could make something of it.
She liked it and the results of our collaboration are shared here.
We settled on the idea of a duet (track 1), but I also wanted the world to hear her amazing full vocal, so that is also provided here as track 3.
I've also added my take on one of my favourite tracks from Abandon Ship, Want You Alive. Thanks Lianne for letting me loose on one of your songs.
Most of the work was done at Juliusstrasse Studios in Bradford, UK, where all production is done with free and open source software.
Lianne's vocals were recorded and supplied by Lianne from Berlin, Germany.
