宇治香園 創業百五十五年記念作品
This work created in 2020 to commemorate the 155th anniversary of
the founding of Ujikoen Co. Ltd.
今作は、京都の老舗茶問屋、宇治香園の創業百五十五年の記念の年、同社が取り組んできた音と光で茶を表現する”Tealightsound”シリーズ第七弾、大野松雄「茶の木仏のつぶやき」に続く「番外編」として制作されたもので、”Tealightsound”の原点ともなっている、COMPUMA feat. 竹久圏による前作「SOMETHING IN THE AIR―the soul of quiet light and shadow layer―」から5年を経て、廃園となりジャングルのように変貌してしまった茶園にふたりが再訪し、あらためてその茶園よりインスピレーションを得て「音を聴く」という行為を見つめ直して向かいあったサウンドスケープと心象風景を模索する意欲作となっている。アートワークは前作に 続き、画家・五木田智央とデザイナー・鈴木聖によるもの。
Compuma and Ken Takehisa revisited an abandoned tea garden that had been transformed into a jungle five years after "SOMETHING IN THE AIR―the soul of quiet light and shadow layer―", the origin of "Tealightsound".
Inspired by the tea garden, this work rethinks the act of "listening to sound" and explores soundscapes and mental landscapes.

Ujikoen, a Japanese tea company founded in 1865 in Kyoto, Japan, has a vision of bringing joy through the quintessence of sencha Japanese tea. The company's experiment “Tealightsound" is produced based on its concept that tea (Japanese tea), light, and sound are—despite their different appearances—similar in terms of the invisible sensations they generate that continuously change.
