Arirang from Lifecourses by TA Walker
"Arirang" is one of Korea's most-loved folk songs, to the point where some have called it the country's unofficial national anthem. I thought it had a yearning feel similar to a Celtic air, and worked the tune into this piece.
(I once mentioned to my wife (a Korean musician and composer) that "Arirang" felt to me like someone missing something or someone they loved, but which they knew they would see again. Somewhat surprised, she replied that was the theme of the lyrics...)
