Forever Blue by Vince Dolphin
Vince Dolphin's 4th album was released quietly last year, at the start of the pandemic when the artist decided it would be better out than sitting in a folder. Amazing move as it is now able to grace our ears in glorious tape format, accompanying 2014's seminal Blue on TAKENINAKE. Contemporary r'n'b influences are palpable here, with more added subtle singing marking the melodies and beats, even though Vince's music doesn't appear to want to reach the dancefloor quite yet; there's this overall low-key afterparty vibe, a sad and kinda somber undertone that seems to be the artist's trademark vision of the ocean floor: lonely and isolated but facing towards the fading light from above the surface. Take the plunge, let you sink deep in the aquatic reverie of Forever Blue...
