Ludovico Franco is a musician and composer based in Rome, Italy.
He started playing music at a very early age, switching various musical instruments before finding his inner resonant voice through the trumpet.
His first musical experiences happened in the field of mainstream jazz. After participating to a jazz summer camp, he won a scholarship for attending some classes at Columbia College of Chicago. There he met with some exponents of the improvised scene of the city. In Rotterdam, during his Erasmus experience, he studied twelve-tone technique, serialism and other contemporary compositional technique.
He then ventured in the field of free improvisation first inspired by John Coltrane’s last musical period, analysed in his bachelor thesis, and then through the means of European improvisers. After having deepened his knowledge of sound engineering at Tor Vergata University, he’s now pursuing his master degree at Siena Jazz, where he studies improvisation with Ralph Alessi and Stefano Battaglia.
He is working actively in music performance, sound engineering, sound recording, post-production and sound design.
