Roots Memories is more than just an album; it is a deeply personal journey that seeks to reflect the sounds and emotions that have shaped my life. This instrumental work carries a nostalgic essence, crafted as a heartfelt tribute to my father, who has been not only a guide but the foundation of my understanding and love for reggae music, which has profoundly influenced who I am today.

From my earliest memories, music was always present. I vividly recall sitting in the car as a child, with the warm, soulful and raw sounds of Bob Marley & The Wailers flowing through the speakers. Those moments felt timeless, like a cocoon of rhythm and melody that made the world outside disappear. As I grew up, I began to notice other records my father used to play; albums like BDF meets Loud & Lone or Countryside by Lone Ark among many others. It was in those simple yet profound moments that my love for reggae began to bloom.

As the years passed, my curiosity deepened, and I started to explore the genre on my own. I discovered the voices of legends such as Dennis Brown, Johnny Osbourne, Don Carlos, Delroy Wilson or Sugar Minnott as well as other names like The Roots Radics, Sly & Robbie, Black Uhuru, King Tubby, Jackie Mittoo, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, The Abyssinians, The Congos, Augustus Pablo or The Wailing Souls for example. Each artist opened a new door, revealing layers of emotion, history, culture and militancy. The music became more than just sound; it became a language that spoke to my soul, a connection to something greater than myself.

Roots Memories reflects that journey. It captures the innocence of those early moments when music was just a sound I loved, to the growing realization of its power to express identity, tell stories, and evoke emotions. This album is not just a collection of tracks; it is a tapestry of personal memories.

Every note and every rhythm in this album is imbued with the gratitude I feel for those experiences. It’s a celebration of growth, a nod to the past, and a bridge to the future; where the sounds of my life continue to echo, carrying forward the legacy of love, music, and roots.
