'Sunburned have always sounded pretty out-there. Sometimes the dementia is simply way too fucked up and confusing (Zample, Weekend At Burnie's 2), while at others it is contained within a more recognizable "rock group" context (Jaybird, Double Puberty), but on some rare occasions, they seem to find a comfortable spot somewhere in between. Not since The Secret In Disguise have I found Sunburned to sound this fascinating and unique... there's simply nothing else like it in their huge output and that, to me, makes this album stand out above the rest. So what's so special about Charlie's Itch? I wouldn't even know where to begin! Try and imagine Wolf Eyes' jamming with Boards Of Canada using only garage sale toasters and a broken humidifier as their sole equipment. Electronics feature much more prominently than usual, but the way these sounds are (ab)used and the lo-fi quality of the recording make this album one hell of psychedelic mind-fuck.'
