Eskalator by studio fatal
This concept album is part of an art installation created for the former department store Schocken in Chemnitz, Germany, in 2020. In the fragile apparatus Eskalator, a record player needle feels its way back in time to discover tracks that had never been recorded. The seven compositions by studio fatal are an acoustic approach to the Schocken's heyday before the expropriation by the national socialists, and a deep bow before the pioneering spirit of the Jewish entrepreneurs Simon and Salman Schocken.

studio fatal is the musical journey of Eva Olivin and Florian Berger. A trunk filled with folk instruments, a guitar on the back seat, pushing the throttle of a slightly mistuned piano they are heading towards scores for imaginary films – driving on and on, with a heartfelt commitment making up for occasional detours.
