steven leak: a constant for me through my life has been to find "the golden thread" which i also know by its other name ... "hope".
there are times when it seems to disappear and yet, i trust and believe that it is always there.
sometimes it's as thick and hefty as hawser rope. sometimes it's as fine and fragile as gossamer.
sometimes it takes work to find.
sometimes i need help to find it.
but eventually, i always do.

in co-creating this music with gordon (DJ ANY WAY) we set out with no plan, indeed nothing more than wanting to experience the joy we each take in creating music with each other.

and so "hope flares" emerged. an album of differing densities of darkness and light, textures, shadow, colours and very especially filled with the hope that gordon and i work to bring into this world.
so in a lot of ways it reflects our own hopes.

my thanks to gordon for being such an open, insightful, patient, generous person. also, thankyou to erik emil eskildsen who brought his understanding, intuitive and creative self to bear on our music in his studio in denmark.

I am a Canadian musician who creates soundscapes. These soundscapes are created with Arturia Microfreak and Minifreak synthesizers various electronic devices , pre-recorded loops, field recordings, and found sounds. I am also a member of "The Forever Moment" a band where I get to co-create music with Mark Cook.
