here in the desert at the bottom of the sea
i once tried to look upon the eye of the beast
thinking that if i could see it, i would be released
in knowing one ceases to fear

thunder, oh thunder
you've made your will know
you drag yourself westward to beckon me come home
and i have been straining to hear that drum roll
to be reminded all is right and well
and i am not alone

i have rode 10,000 miles, or so i'm told
i kept my eyes closed
a swan dive into the unknown

and i will bend down upon ragged knee
i am but a trumpet, pour this voice through me
and if in singing i shatter
let it be
as a vessel, it's my right, it's my duty
to go gracefully

i have know for a long while that i am headed home
all other course abandoned
conclusion forgone
in this endless search to know and to be known
