KELKKAILUA
In this recording, I've used field recordings and lots of "icy" crystalline sounds (chime bars, kalimba, etc) to evoke the serene whiteness of the arctic winter scene. When the sleigh bells start up, what they portray should be obvious. The middle eight section where the bassline and drums become busier and the mandocellos kick in, hint at the breathless euphoria and adrenalin rush the rider experiences aboard the sleigh as it hurtles downhill through the snow.
A dream I shared with my sister Belinda, now sadly departed. A winter holiday within the arctic circle in Norway and Finland with reindeer, huskies and sleigh rides, fjords, mountains and glaciers, snowmobiles, igloos and the Northern Lights.
