Back Broken by Ben Jammin' Beats
Inspired by golden age hip hop, “Back Broken” was crafted to portray a cypher-type instrumental. I chopped a sample up much more than usual, ensuring it would have that hip-hop feel mixed with the boom-bap drum beat and thumping bass. To make things interesting, I added the female vocal cuts to surprise the listener with something new. The track ends with a West Coast synth lead straight from my roots, as I rapped and played live for my whole college career and rapped over my own West Coast-inspired beats. This track has brought me full circle through the “Sphere of Hip Hop.”
