Burning Chrome by Sonic Flames

This album tells the story of Bobby Quine, a “console cowboy,” who, together with his partner Automatic Jack, has been dreaming of the big score for years (1). Despite all their experience, the breakthrough has never come, and people whisper that Bobby is losing his edge. Then Rikki appears (2), a girl Bobby meets in one of those dimly lit hacker bars (3). She brings fresh wind into his world, and Jack starts to believe in the dream of the ultimate hit again.

While Jack discovers a stolen Russian “ice-breaker” virus in a shady pawnshop (4), Bobby finds the perfect target (5): Chrome, the dangerous queen of the House of Blue Lights (6), a place where bodies are traded like merchandise. With the new weapon in hand (8), (9), they dare the impossible (10), (11) – and they win (12). Chrome is ruined (13), her money gone.

But in the middle of their triumph, Rikki chooses her own path (14). She was never after the score, only her dream: a pair of flawless cybernetic eyes like those of her favorite simstim idols (7). Jack makes sure she flies first-class to Chiba City (15), where she can find her future. She never comes back.

This album is a story of neon-lit nights and stolen dreams, of a perfect heist and a love that was never truly seen. It is a reminder that even in the moment of ultimate victory, something of ourselves is always left behind — lost somewhere between the code, the streets, and the stars.

starting in late 2018, we have written, arranged and recorded the songs. In 2023 we started the mixing and mastering process and in September 2025 we have finished this concept album after 7 years of creativity. We all play in different bands and have joined forces to finish this project.
