Snow Ghosts is a stirring collaboration between Throwing Snow and London-based ensemble, Augustus Ghost. Sounding something like the dreamchild of Clubroot, Zola Jesus, Björk and Various Production and dominated by Hannah Cartwright's arresting, folksy vocals. Through his work as Throwing Snow Ross has gained plaudits from all sides, manifested most recently through invitations to support Bonobo on his forthcoming tour, as well as Thom Yorke’s Atoms For Peace project, while Hannah comes from a songwriting background, having previously collaborated with Phaeleh as well as singing in the band Masakichi.
Sharing a mutual influence of the shadowy elements of British folklore and the heavier side of experimental noise, a disparate array of reference points combines to form Snow Ghosts’ bewitching and oft intoxicating sound. Throwing Snow and Augustus Ghost are now joined by multi-instrumentalist Oliver Knowles to pool their individual inspirations, ideas and styles under the moniker of Snow Ghosts.
