Skjól, Icelandic for "shelter," curdles on the tongue in this album. It is a sonic tapestry woven from shadows. A desperate plea for refuge transformed into ethereal soundscapes. Chanting vocals morph into guttural prayers, woven with the mournful sigh of Indian flutes. Guitars bleed from skeletal whispers to searing wails, all entangled with the ominous thrum of a church organ. A symphony of dissonance, Skjól offers Sanctuary in its own way, by guiding the listener through a mesmerizing plunge into the abyss.
