The light on my wall is growing greener
The light in my eyes is muted and gray
I’m not always fit to play receiver
To what’s projected on me by the day
A canvas was stretched over the window
To hide me from it when I was kid
I peer through the fabric of my raincoat
I’ve never been more protected than this

The light on my face arrives and exits
That’s not the problem, I’m volatile too
My risk is in trying to connect it
To everything else in my field of view
It’s colorful now, I pay attention
The eye at midnight is no eye at all
I’m only as good as my perception
I’m only looking as far as the wall
