"Utopia"- is "An imaginary place or state in which everything is perfect.".-(Oxford Dictionary). Skye Lee's debut album features tracks such as: "Danger, Danger", "Believe" & "Left/Right". The album has 10 tracks. Including, five full band and five solo tracks. Skye wrote this album from just the age of 11, all the way to 17.
By the age of 12, "Believe" was Skye's second song EVER WRITTEN. From topics of: addiction, abuse, heartbreak, death of a siginficant other, having to adult in rehab, jail, fostercare, and other terrifying gut-wrenching situations and more, she achieved to write ten stripped, honest, and tear-jerking songs. At sucha young age, and lacking of resources. Skye tried to release a song for fans and friends to the best of her capablities with such miniscle resources that she had. Her inspiring motivational lyrics. Her depressive,suicidal thoughts. Her addiction trapping her, her abused soul. Her body in broken in a cold white 4x4 walled cell. She wrote these songs to free her emotions, but to also help those who found themselves stuck right exactly in the same spot. While I interviewed Skye Lee. I asked, "What makes you not give music up too? Why do you continue to write songs that rehaunt you with pain from the past?". Her response caught my thick skinned, 28 yearold stocky build off guard. She beautifully said, "This album honestly isnt for me. It's for those who were told/believe that they're not capable of achieving their dreams. You know, he ones who struggle every fucking day. The ones who can't even wake up in the morning and smile that they lived to see another day. I've been told so many times from fans that they are still alive because of my songs/lyrics, or that they're constantly numb. Yet, when they listen to my music, they feel something. I don't know. I play & write music to escape. I just want someone else to feel that magic too. I just want someone else, even if it's just one person. I want them to realize they're not alone. I'm right here, and as low as it gets. We'll make it out alive".
