Chicha Macabre by Silas Hite
This is an album of original music written and performed by Silas Hite. It features original chicha music playfully interpreted and mixed with dialog samples from old public domain films that suggest a story about a mysterious monster in the jungle. The dialog was stripped from the films, transferred to a cassette tape, then played by hand to create vinyl scratching-type effects. This music evokes a blend of Los Mirlos, DJ Shadow, the White Lotus soundtrack, Dan the Automator, and Gorillaz.
The artwork, dialog samples, music, and song titles all work together to suggest a soundtrack to film that doesn't exist...yet. But the soundtrack certainly does exist, as a limited edition, translucent green vinyl album.
