Meditation music for a journey within yourself.

I produced this record in a time where I lost myself, every note was a step closer to what I was feeling. A period of rediscovering music, good conversations and the finding of love, stillness and a safe space in myself and others.
The tracks came to be in a small, spiritual medieval town on the riverside. The nature sounds within some tracks were recorded in the area where I live. The birds in the monastery garden in spring, the nibbling sheep on the dike in summer, and in fall the geese on land and water.
The benevolence of the constant and repeating music was something I discovered in my contact with people with a complex and intensive need of care. The music creates your own world where everyone is free and may be unique.
All tracks last 10 minutes so that you are given the time and space to relax and make a journey within yourself. A safe space created by sound where you can dive deeper into the layers of your feelings.
The length of the tracks, the repetitions, the warmth of the acoustic instruments and the nature sounds that were recorded in the field create a safe environment wherein you can be free and can travel in your own fantasies. The music makes it possible to travel to your inner world.
Safe Space is the second record from Sense Theater: a musical project of music producer, theater maker and multi-instrumentalist Elco van Alphen in collaboration with a number of talented musicians.

The tracks have been composed in a small medieval and spiritual city at the river side. Elco discovered the pleasure of ongoing and repeating sound in his contact with people with complex and intensive needs. The music creates a world of its own in which anyone feels free and unique.
