Paragon Rising by Jon of the Shred
Dr Grimm continues to seek the "cure for death," obsessed with the concept since the loss of his daughter. When he develops 8X-17, it appears to be a breakthrough - until the reanimated corpses prove hostile and cannibalistic. Grimm decides to bring his focus back to the Ecliptic Prophecy.
Without proper funding, Grimm could never delve deeper into the Ecliptic Prophecy. But being ostracized by the science community leaves him with no options. He decides to infiltrate politics, returning to his birthplace of Donovan City under the guise of Dominac Jann.
