Distant dream
I look at her and she's breathing low
I watch her sleep
Distant dream
Vanilla scent as she lays with me
Slow mornings spent in bed

We're in the car, NPR is on, we're listening
Distant dream
All her plans to visit Panama, we'd go around
and round and round, the dreams we found
Burnt to the ground, destroyed our little world

To wrap your heart around a firecracker
Fuse is lit, clinging tight together
Sometimes fire sparks from air
Sometimes water drowns our dreams
Come up for air, but it's not there

Distant dream
I look for her but she's not around
I loved her so, walked out that door
Came back no more
