Slowly I reach out for you
Hoping that you’ll feel me, too
But it’s cold out there, it’s cold out there
And the silence slowly sinks into despair

Once I would dream of the night
When you’d step into the light
But you never came, you never came
And now I’m falling down, enslaved to pain

There’s a silent understanding, violent and demanding
You draw me in and take my breath away
You’ve broken all your promises, but somehow I’m still standing
Screaming all the words I dare not say

Now I lay here waiting, done with all the aching
Begging you won’t ever change your mind
The darkness overwhelming, into the abyss I’m delving
But I can’t go without leaving something else behind

Now there’s nothing but this note
This short and simple page I wrote
For never did I tell you, never could I tell you
That the darkness that stole me all came from you
