Discernment by MOONKNIGHT
"Discernment" is a brand new EP and the first MOONKNIGHT release in 3 years (following the Rhuith split cassette on Tour De Garde). The 2 songs, simply titled "Part I" and "Part II", total nearly 26 minutes of cold, majestic and ethereal atmospheric black metal. It was written, performed, recorded, mixed and mastered by Horus in a span of 5 days at his new home studio Hidden Fortress in Louisville, Kentucky.
On "Discernment", Horus experimented with an alternate arrangement where the guitars normally so prominent in MOONKNIGHT took a supporting role. Keyboards and synths were then utilized to create a shimmering atmosphere throughout the duration of the songs, with extended ambient passages adding to the icy melancholy.
