Discoteca Sudamericana by Les Chakachas
Les Chakachas' ‘Discoteca Sudamericana’ was released in Italy by CBS Sugar in 1974 and, at the time, it did not get the attention deserved. At least not the same attention received by the ‘Chakachas’ LP featuring the club classics ‘Stories’ and ‘The Party’. But if you consider the album as a whole, Discoteca Sudamericana’ is way richer in grooves and features some slamming dancefloor killers such as ‘Super Cat’, ‘Liza & Brooks’ and ‘Vendo Mango’, to name just a few.
Les Chakachas is an astonishing Belgian ensemble of Caucasian musicians with an extraordinary sense of groove. The cherry on top is the featuring of Tito Puente’s wife on vocals, who grants a ’real deal’ latin soul vibe to the recording.
Les Chakachas' ‘Discoteca Sudamericana’ is another remarkable addition to the legendary Easy Tempo catalogue, and this high quality reissue, featuring a bunch of bonus tracks in respect of the original release, is destined to please DJs and music lovers around the globe.
