Patina by Rew

After making the audiovisual VR animation ‘Specimens of Ephemeral Worlds,’ Rew was spellbound to conjure more imaginary places. Patina is an impassioned exploration of volca fm sounds and field recordings that takes the listener past burbly walls of texture, layers of mangled sound samples, and mood-shifting chime melodies. Tense metallic clangs and vibrating bass melt into distorted recordings of crackling embers, meadow grasses, generators. The diverse compositions unfold peculiar atmospheres that twist and turn through tension, frivolity, pensiveness, and turbulence.

Rew (‘roo’) is a new media artist based in Columbus, OH. Her immersive art uses abstraction, distortion, and ethereal textures to inspire awe and curiosity in the listener.
