Temporal Movement is the most recent project by Philadelphia-based producer David Wesley Sutton (aka LXV). With releases dating back to 2004, Sutton has been active on the East Coast noise & experimental scene for well over a decade, having lived in Jersey City and now Philly, and appearing in noise duo Car Commercials from 2006-2010. As LXV his sleek, shapeshifting arrangements blur the lines of genre and are always difficult to pin down, yet remain consistent and confidently clear. If you're not familiar, we recommend LXV albums on Monorail Trespassing, Anòmia, and most recently Phinery Tapes.
On '118', we hear a completely different side of his mind and approach. "Seren" sounds like a forgotten b-side cut of a classic 90s downtempo CD with endless mood and raw, obscure textures spanning the stereo field. "Leveled" opens up into a greater, calmer ambient expanse, evoking memories of early Vladislav Delay and the Chain Reaction heydays. Throughout the entirety of the album, however, specifically on the closer "Mound", we are treated with more unique presence and depth than initially meets the eye. A characteristic of any art that is worth seeking out.
