Sticking with the experimental leanings of the past and fusing it with sweeping contemporary arrangements, it’s a perfect case of old dogs learning new tricks and doing them well. 8.5/10

Of all the albums I’ve listened to this year (2019) ‘Stimulus Response’ has been the one to transport me to an era of greatness and sustain my interest for the length of an album. If I were to give it a score out of 10 with 10 being the highest, I would have to rate it a 9/10.

Independent band Rain Factory formed in the northern suburbs of Melbourne in early 1990 and went on to release 3 EPs and 2 albums during that decade. Stimulus Response took 6 years to complete and is the band’s first album in 2 decades. The music is resplendent with big guitar riffs and melodies and themes that examine the paradoxical nature of bittersweet love and life.
