somewhere there are some notes where the version of "rainy day song", here deliberately misspelled, is described as a 'stoned stitch job'...
what happened was that we did two very similar sets, unusual for us, but the idea was to reduce the risk of disappointment for the folks who couldn't get to both of the two gigs, a fortnight apart. this made sense at the time...
& so when it came time to put out the traditional document of the live sets, we were faced with choosing between two versions of each of the pieces in the set. this was fairly straightforward for the most part- various technical things &/or operational howlers made the choice for us, but the two versions of RDS were both pretty decent. while comparing them, we hit upon the idea of running them simultaneously & panning them left & right. so. that's how it ended up like it is here.
this set was originally available on a long gone limited edition 4xCD-R various artists set, `concerts at jodrell bank' although not with the rather splendid cover art seen here.
