Chords cascade, blending and reforming, in the warming wonder of “Still Life.” “Dead Carnation” is from a similar place. Keys skipping down scales, dancing down them as percussion lends a touch of weight.“Distant” is the mood changer. Rain falls, smoke whirls and the night descends in this dark and intoxicating encounter. But those clouds part for the close.
