For their first release of 2025, Phase Group return to where they started with new music by label founders MR TC and Lo Kindre, under the moniker of TC LK. Their self-titled debut album marks the first collaborative recordings by the pair to see daylight since the release of the PHASE001 EP in 2019.
Their new album sees the pair reaching for darker and heavier territory, where modulation and delay enact mind-bending effect on warped bass lines, dubbed out breaks and mangled samples.
Album opener ‘Godmanchester’ ominously sets the tone with a distorted acid line floating over stuttering ambient pads as a drum machine struggles to find its way through a gnarled signal chain; the album’s centrepiece comes in the form of a nine-minute-plus epic, ‘TLPTK’, in which a stark dancehall rhythm is paired with a modulating bass drone and otherworldly oscillating arps, while tracks like ‘Aro’ and ‘Bouncy’ present the most club-engaged moments of the record; the former in the form of a glacial electro rhythm, subtly locking into a groove, and the latter through throbbing bass and echoed breakbeats shimmering over spectral drones.
With this new album TC LK offer up a deft manifesto for futuristic, hypnotic sound design that sits somewhere between the club, the afters and somewhere else completely.
TC LK is released in the form of a digital album alongside a very limited amount of 10” dubplates featuring ‘TLPTK’, ‘Aro’ and ‘Bouncy’, hand-cut by Henninspace at Copyshop Studio in Dresden, available exclusively via Bandcamp.
Phase Group will celebrate the release of PHASE008 with a TC LK live show alongside DJ peanut and Rick Shiver at Spanners in London on the 28th of March.
