Looking back, the gate has closed
in my heart I know it's justified
for a time, I cannot taste
comfort that had always kept me safe

The longest sigh the world has known
scorched so slowly as the sword sets flame
wondering what is next out there, through the dreary depths of our despair

Forsaken all that's been done for me
still, I am loved eternally

I will serve my time and wait
for the better days I know will come
I'll teach all those in my care
all the things in need of such repair

But what will they all think of me?
The curse that I've wrought, my only legacy

Only shame, and endless blame
follow me now
why do we fall so far away?
