groove 11 by Renick Bell
The second groove from the series of algoraves made its way to the American sound artist, Renick Bell. This Tokyo-based producer has proved himself as the creator of abstract sound sculptures created / recorded / composed using algorithms. His music is a complex mass of polyrhythms and cold spaces.
A side of the eleventh groove is a track evoking the associations of the 90s. However, this is not a direct impression, but rather a “subcutaneous” awareness of possible inspiration. The dark atmosphere of the track and the shifting layer of vibrating bass could be seen as a reference to Plastikman's classic record "Consumed". The minimalist and dense rhythms, on the other hand, resemble drum & bass tunes from Jonny L ("Piper") and productions of another legend – Decoder. B side is an epic tribute to atmospheric hits from Good Looking Records, early 720 Degrees label catalogue and Renegade Recordings.
Groove 11 – Renick Bell outlines a futuristic and uncompromising vision of the past, while creating his own private story. If you want to imagine how Photek, played by Chris Cunningham's "monkey drummer", might sound, then Renick's algorave is the perfect example.
The graphic design of the Algorave series by Iwona Jarosz evokes the works of the 20th-century Wrocław visual artist Wacław Szpakowski. His "rhythmic lines" and "broken lines", their dynamics, rhythmization, interpenetration of simplicity and complexity can be an extremely interesting reference point for the practices of the (visual and sound) creators of Algorave – this is the perspective in which we wanted to present this series.

guides, is the more frivolous branch of outlines, where releases are characterised by greater freedom of form.
