Thesis Plus by Orion Boucher

*TRIGGER WARNING* the central theme of this album is my process of meaning-making through discussing my father's suicide in graphic detail. It is a display of my psychological processes working through my experience of grief as my self-care process.

This album, the first I have released of my own music as opposed to as part of a band, is part of a thesis project for the completion of my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. It accompanies a written component that compares Red Book era Carl Jung, Electric era Miles Davis, and my own process of grief following my father's suicide in 2014. Through using similar processes to Miles and Jung during these phases of their work, I explore the correlations between music improvisation, individuation, and meaning making in my grieving process.

Orion Boucher is a musician, lyricist, and budding therapist who resides in Ojai, Ca.

His music combines elements of rap, improvised music, bluegrass, and Jungian psychology. In addition to being a musician, he is becoming a psychotherapist.

His primary instrument is bass, both upright and electric. He also has enjoyed playing mandolin since inheriting one from his father when he passed away.
