A Note from Olivia Block

Here are two works. The first, En Echelon is from my album Innocent Passage In The Territorial Sea. The second, Kein is a long-distance collaboration piece between myself and Jan St. Werner, an artist and human being I greatly admire, and have enjoyed working with throughout the years. I sent Jan the bass organ track initially, and described to him the speculative science fiction soundtrack theme of the album.

Jan contrasted the solemn and static organ sounds with a Roland Kayn-esque layer of vivid sonic textures- fluid, beautiful, strange and enchanting. The title Kein, meaning “none” in German, was chosen for its similarity to the name “Kayn.”
