With the barely month-old 'Monolith' on the horizon, the reverse journey towards 'Steamdome III: Beyond the End' continues with 'Intermezzo'—the symphony's second movement:
— As the title suggests, 'Intermezzo' is a breather. But like the work's other two movements, this one too would be rejected by the elevator after just a couple of floors. In this leg of the symphony, the machinery winds down, but the mind winds up. Intermezzo is the fever dream where the wrong wedding band shows up at the wrong wedding. Among margaritas, brassraids and Trojan Toccatas, the symphony’s sole vocal element also emerges, signed by Kirsti Huke.
In the upcoming album 'Beyond the End', Ola Kvernberg blends rhythmic vitality with symphonic force in a composition that defies every music genre norm. "Monolith" is the culmination of three movements, where Kvernberg extends an invitation to the classical domain for a modern dance amidst electric squalls and symphonic surges of adrenaline.
